Are you in need of a refresh? I love springtime because it’s a chance to reboot and realign with what we want most in life. For me, it’s a time to reassess- to keep doing the things that are working well and stop doing things that aren’t serving me anymore.  And the way that I feel and function is a good indicator of how I’m doing on all fronts. 

If I’m feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, or run down I know it’s time to re-evaluate. If I’m feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and capable of being the best version of me then I know that I’m on the right track. 

Today, I want to share with you how essential oils play a role in helping me be the best, most authentic version of myself – and how they can help you do that, too. In this mini-article I’m going to share 9 AWESOME ways oils can change your life. They’ll help add value, drive, and confidence to achieve optimal wellness. Let’s get started. 

1. Energy

I’m not a morning person. As much as I want to be, it takes some time for me to really get in my groove. Sunlight and a hot shower help a lot, but my secret weapon is essential oils. I keep energizing oils like wild orange and peppermint at my bedside to inhale first thing in the morning. I know, I sound like an addict needing a “hit” from my oils first thing, but they are that effective! (; 

Energizing oils have a way of increasing awareness, promoting mental energy, focus and concentration just when we need it. Whether you’re staring at your computer trying to get started on an intense work project or you just need a little extra fuel to help your kids with their homework – energizing oils are easy to use, they are convenient and they are super effective.

2. Sleep 

When I became a mom, a good night’s sleep became hard to come by. Whether it was racing thoughts at night keeping me up or a wake-up call that came a little too early, I wasn’t getting enough. A deep sleep is crucial for a productive day and a healthy life and when you get one, you feel good and you look good. They don’t call it “beauty sleep” for nothing. 

If you need to prioritize your Z’s (and we all do), I suggest essential oils. The best essential oils for sleep have the ability to calm a chattery mind, relax the body, and send you into a lovely dream realm. Even  if my sleep is cut short and I’m going on fewer hours because little people are waking up at night, essential oils help me make the most of the sleep that I DO get. And that’s saying a lot. When I wake up refreshed and ready for the day, I can be the best version of myself for me and my family.

3. Beauty 

Father Time isn’t retiring anytime soon, and he’s coming for all of us. I don’t think prioritizing beauty is vain. In fact, I think caring for your body, your skin, your hair, etc. is an act of extreme self-love. To me, beautiful means healthy. When you look vibrant and healthy, your confidence is undeniable and you shine! Instead of going for more conventional treatments that unnecessarily expose you to toxins and hormone disruptors,  try reaching for essential oils to support natural beauty and the aging process. 

Essential oils are my favorite natural alternative to conventional self-care products and  when used correctly, they make excellent additions to your daily beauty regimen. Adding a single drop of the right essential oil to your face moisturizer or shampoo can become a game-changer for skin and hair health. It also turns the whole regimen into more of a luxurious experience. 

Personally, I love to use the anti-aging properties of essential oils in my daily skincare routine to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and to boost collagen production. And you better believe I first fell in love with beauty oils while making a tea tree face mask to halt and clear breakouts. My point is, essential oils are extremely versatile and are your best friends when it comes to boosting confidence and feeling good about yourself.

4. Emotions 

Some days just aren’t great days. Some days it seems like the odds are stacked against us and it’s easy to slip into feelings of sadness, doom and gloom – or maybe it’s more like frustration and anger.  As women, we ride the hormonal roller coaster every month and while it’s natural, it’s nice to have a little control and balance. 

Using essential oils for emotions like sadness, overwhelm, resentment, and frustration is an all-natural alternative that can instantly change the vibe in your home. They also allow you to avoid the side effects that come with prescription drugs. 

Now, I’m not saying to flush your pills down the toilet, you should always talk to your health care provider before changing up your routine, but what I am saying is that whether you need a happy boost or a calm down, oils can have your back.

5. Stress 

Stress. Everybody’s got some. A little stress can be a good thing but a lot of stress can be deadly. Using essential oils to destress (something I very much need with 3 boys and another baby on the way) is a great way to feel relaxed, calm, and grounded (and avoid a total freak out!). 

My evening ritual is a warm bath infused with essential oils, Epsom Salt and my favorite candles. Essential oils for stress are easy to use, they’re affordable, and they don’t come with any unwanted side effects.

6. Hormones 

Your hormones regulate almost everything that goes on in your body: sleep, energy, sex, eating, and skin issues – just to name a few. Essential oils are not only a great way to side step toxins but also a great way to bring hormone levels back into balance.

7. Cleaning 

We’re a non-toxic family for many reasons, but especially because we have little people in the house.  We are diligent about what we are using to clean and “spruce up” the home. Conventional cleaning products contain countless hormone disrupting chemicals, known-carcinogens, and environmental toxins. They’re not good for us and they’re definitely not good for our earth. Making DIY cleaning recipes with essential oils is easy, affordable, and effective. 

Essential oils have anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties that eliminate dirt, grime, and pathogens. AND they can make your house and laundry smell incredible. Sounds like a win-win to me.

8. Detox 

Regular detox is necessary for all of us. We come into contact with dangerous toxins everyday whether it’s from the food we eat or just the air we breath and while we can’t eliminate exposure we can work to reduce it with essential oils. 

For our organs and bodily systems to work at their optimal states, we need a little natural support to help flush and empty the bad stuff. Keeping up with regular detoxes is a great way to boost wellness. For this, we focus on essential oils that support the lymphatic system. This is the main system our body relies on to move toxins through the body.

Whether those are skin issues, coughs or colds, migraines, or tummy aches, essential oils can help.
