Adrenal fatigue is a serious issue caused by stress, exhaustion, and overwhelm. It happens when your hormones get all out of balance, and you ignore the common signs of adrenal fatigue.

Hormone imbalance in women is more common than ever, and if you ignore burnout symptoms—you may be headed straight for adrenal fatigue. In this episode, I’m talking about the top 6 signs.

First up! Consistent lack of sleep. When you are consistently missing 8-9 hours of good quality sleep, that’s a sign you’re headed for adrenal fatigue. It’s imperative that you prioritize not just quantity but also quality sleep. I know, from experience, that this can be hard for mothers, especially new mamas. If you can’t sleep straight through the night, get sleep where you can. Naps count!

The second sign is that you are using stimulants via food and drinks to keep you going throughout the day. Are you completely wiped out by 2 o’clock and ready to hit the hay? Do you feel like the only way you can get through the day is with a caffeinated beverage? This is a common sign that you are heading for complete adrenal burnout. The thing is, caffeine doesn’t give you energy; it just blocks the signaling that tells your brain you are tired.

Number three: ignoring your body and staying up past the point of exhaustion. Ok, so this is a super common sign. Are you tired all day and at 9 pm you feel like you could go to bed, but you think it’s too early, so you stay up past ten?! Then, all of a sudden, you feel wired?! Been there, done that. Do not miss your sweet spot for hitting the hay. Listen to your body and go to bed when it says it is ready.

The fourth sign you are headed straight for adrenal fatigue is that you are constantly pushing yourself! All my fellow Type A’s, raise your hand! If you struggle to sit back and chill when you have downtime, you are setting yourself up for AF.

The fifth sign goes hand in hand with the fourth: struggling with perfectionism. I personally struggle with this, and it’s been one of the main causes for my adrenal fatigue in the past. The biggest lesson I learned is to let people who want to help you help you. Even if I had a million things on my plate, I would still want to do everything by myself because I thought it had to get done in a specific way. This is 100% one of the main reasons I struggled with AF for so long.

And last: you have no margin or downtime. If your days are scheduled to the bone, and you leave no time for breaks, you are setting yourself up for failure. Adrenal failure, that is. When you are so stressed with all of the things on your to-do list, it’s time to start saying “no.” I know how hard this can be, but remember that you have to put on your oxygen mask first.

All of these signs can result in adrenal fatigue, which can lead to an underactive immune system. The last thing you need during these colder months is a low immune system. That’s why we are regularly using our Organic Immunity Greens, a supplement that can lower inflammation and stress.

I hope this episode helped you evaluate your life and any changes that you need to make to stay healthy.
