80: Healthy Fats for Happy Hormones

3 Reasons to Add Healthy Fats to Your Diet Every Day 

  1. Steroid hormones (aka lipid hormones) are synthesized from fat 
  2. Healthy fats can help regulate and balance blood sugar 
  3. Healthy fats are needed to assimilate fat soluble vitamins 

Healthy Fats vs. Unhealthy Fats 

Unhealthy 

  • Anything deep fried (trans fat, hydrogenated oils0 
  • Vegetable oils
  • Canola oil
  • Margarine
  • Animal fats from animals that are not organic, grass fed, hormone & antibiotic free
  • Oils high in omega-6 (sunflower oil) 
  • Processed foods are usually high in one or more of these types of fats 

Healthy 

  • Plant based oils like EVOO, avocado, coconut 
  • Nuts and nut butters and seeds – raw is better than roasted 
  • Avocados
  • Chia seeds
  • Flax seeds
  • Wild caught, low mercury fatty fish and seafood
