Hormonal acne is the WORST. It feels like there’s nothing you can do about it and simple solutions aren’t exactly straightforward. Well, that changes today, girl. In this episode, I’m sharing 3 hormonal acne fixes that work.

You’ll learn about a hormonal acne diet that I (and research) swear by. I dive into the relationship between conventional dairy and acne and other issues causing breakouts.

You know you have hormonal acne when your breakouts tend to ebb and flow with your cycle. Understanding and paying attention to your skin is the first step to healing hormonal acne. When you suffer from hormonal acne, hormonal imbalance is the root cause. Three common acne triggers may be at the root for you. Let’s dive in.

Number one: dairy—especially conventional dairy products. Dairy and acne have a close relationship; in fact, acne may not be able to live without dairy. For many people, dairy can be difficult to digest. This issue is compounded if you consume conventional dairy because it contains added hormones! Fix: go free for 2-4 weeks to see how your skin changes.

Number two: too much excess hormones in circulation. Metabolism of hormones is a key function in the body. When you have too many hormones circulating, it can lead to imbalances. Most commonly, women who struggle with hormonal acne have too much estrogen in the body. This can be from exposure to xenoestrogens from cosmetics, cleaning products, and even conventional foods. The best thing to do is swap out your chemical-laden products for non-toxic ones and then sweat it out! Exercise, hit the sauna, take a hot bath. Get those excess hormones out of your system.

Number three: watch your blood sugar. Did you know that big swings in blood sugar can influence hormones to trigger breakouts?! The best thing to do is to try to keep blood sugar as level as possible, avoiding things that cause massive spikes or massive dips. Fix: don’t skip meals, eat smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day. Do your best to include healthy fat in every meal.
