Struggling with energy during the day is a common concern for many people. In fact, in our virtual health consultancy, low energy is one of the biggest complaints we hear from clients. But before you opt for a conventional quick fix – STOP! We’re talking the best essential oil blends for energy today.

Do not reach for that sugar energy drink or a second cup of coffee. Instead, reach for powerful essential oils. These all-natural plant remedies will work hard to pep you up and get you ready to seize the day. Whether you need a morning energy boost after a long night out, focus and productivity for a big workday, or relief from ongoing brain fog and fatigue– there’s an essential oil blend.

Today, you’re going to learn about the types of oils that work well together (and smell incredible together) to give you that much-needed energy boost.

Mood and Energy

For the day-to-day, we need a positive mood and strong energy to bring the best version of ourselves to our daily duties. Citrus and mint essential oil combos are the holy grail for heightened mood and energy. And the perfect pair for when you’ve stayed up too late watching a movie. Oils like wild orange, lemon, and grapefruit combined with minty oils like Peppermint, spearmint, and wintergreen will get you ready to seize the day–or get you over that dreaded afternoon slump.

Personally, I love to use these oils first thing in the morning (I am not a morning person). Wild orange and peppermint are two of my favorite oils to use together and they help me to get going and start the day. Inhale in the palms or diffuse while you go through your morning routine.

Focus and Productivity

When you need the energy to focus on a big project or a day of work, use oils that will promote high levels of productivity.  Peppermint is known for helping us focus.

I remember the days when I was in grade school and it was time to take standardized tests. My teacher would also give us peppermint candies because she said that it would help us do well. Now I know why she said this! While I doubt the peppermint candy had much (if any) essential oil, the premise is sound: Peppermint really works when we need brain power.

If you need or want less  “peppy” energy and prefer more of a grounding energy, woody oils like Frankincense and Vetiver are going to be your go-to. These oils help to create a soothing and calm environment where you can get some serious work done. These are also great oils for kids that struggle with getting distracted when it’s time to do schoolwork. Combine a little lavender with these grounding oils for an equally productive and relaxing environment.

Brain Fog and Adrenal Fatigue

When we have those intense run-down feelings when our brain feels like a bucket of mush, we need herbal oils that address brain fog and adrenal fatigue. After 3 babies and one on the way, I have had my fair share of experience with adrenal fatigue and oils have helped SO much.  To properly energize your brain and give it a refresh, herbal essential oils like Rosemary and Basil will work super well.

Rosemary is known for its brain benefits and helps to improve your memory and concentration. Basil promotes healthy hormone function – a core problem area for people that are struggling with adrenal fatigue. These herbal oils have a fresh aroma that works well to revitalize the brain and body to promote mental clarity.

Decide which aroma you enjoy the most and add 4-5 drops of these to your diffuser. These herbal oils can also go well with minty oils, so get creative with your combos until you find your perfect one.

Exercise and Activities

Whether you’re running around all day or running on the treadmill, inhaling the energizing aromas of essential oils can happily help you make the most of your exercise and promote stamina for physical activity. Try inhaling minty oils or citrus oils for this.

Dr. Jones and I love Peppermint and Lemongrass. We usually inhale in the palms before starting a workout. The added benefits of these oils is that they can help to soothe any joint pain or sore muscles. Peppermint and Lemongrass are the perfect combo to keep in your gym bag so they’re handy after a workout.

Energizing Essential Oil Blends

This is one of my favorite energizing diffuser blends for the day-to-day. Not only will it help purify the air, but it will also create an uplifting environment that gets you excited about your day–hence its name “Happy Place.”

Happy Place Diffuser Blend

  • 2 drops Wild Orange
  • 2 drops Lemon
  • 2 drops Bergamot
  • 2 drops Spearmint or Peppermint

Instructions: Add the essential oils to your diffuser and then fill up to the waterline. Plug in, turn on, and inhale deeply.
