What a time to be alive! Essential oils have made their comeback and are more popular than ever. No more unnecessary antibiotics, prescriptions, or OTC medications – essential oils can handle it. But with the resurgence of natural remedies for common ailments like poor sleep, low energy, and skin issues, big brands are popping up with essential oil lines everywhere – and some can’t be trusted. That’s why I’m reviewing and rating the most searched for essential oil brands on the market. And today, we’re talking about Art Naturals essential oils.

Before we get started, it’s important to have a clear goal in mind. Why do you want to use essential oils? Are you interested in using them for therapeutic benefits or do you just want to mix up some non-toxic DIY cleaning supplies? If you want the powerful benefits to ease anxiety, calm eczema, and get a good night’s sleep, then you need a high quality brand you can trust. But, if you’re just thinking about dropping some on a wool dryer ball and throwing it in the dryer, then a cheaper, not-so-pure brand is not the worst idea for your wallet.

I am going to be rating Art Naturals essential oils on a scale of A+-F based on price, selection, and quality. To learn more about the specifics of our rating scale, go here

Now that you have your goal in mind, let’s get started.

The Basics: Who is Art Naturals?

Art Naturals is a natural beauty company that offers haircare, skincare, bath and body, men’s products, gift sets — and of course — essential oils. They say their aim is to “offer high-quality items at an affordable price,” and for the most part, it seems to me that they follow through on that goal fairly well.

Price

Art Naturals essential oils falls into the low/cheap price range without dipping too far down that the prices raise red ags. So they’re definitely honoring their idea of “an affordable price.” I’m a little skeptical of their frankincense pricing since most reputable essential oil companies charge significantly more for authentic frankincense. Here are a few examples to give you a better idea:

LAVENDER $8.00 for 15 mL

FRANKINCENSE $6.00 for 15 mL*

PEPPERMINT $5.00 for 15 mL

* Art Naturals does not sell frankincense in a 15mL bottle, so I calculated the math based upon their 10mL bottle. That way you could have a better comparison to our other essential oil brands.

Selection

I would say the selection of Art Naturals essential oils falls somewhere in the middle of other essential oils brands. They have a nice variety of singles, including some that go beyond your very basics, like bergamot. They also offer blends, a small “Baby & Mama” collection, a few rollerballs, and their own diffusers and carrier oils. This is definitely a happy medium sort of line: good for a newbie or someone who wants to branch out a bit without getting overwhelmed.

Quality

Like their selection, I feel Art Naturals falls somewhere in the middle in terms of quality. They do some things well: they list the botanical name, method of extraction, and region of origin for each oil. They also have each oil independently tested, and the GC report can be downloaded from their website. But they could do some things better: they don’t have a comprehensive quality page describing their practices or testing (beyond sharing GC results). I have no idea what other tests each oil goes through.

Art Naturals Rating

I’m rating Art Naturals essential oils a C – average. This means that they fall in the middle of the pack – not the worst and not the best. Often there are substantial opportunities to improve in one or more areas. These oils are typically best used for their aroma or what I call “smell good” oils. Use for therapeutic benefits likely won’t get the results you’re happy with.

All together, Art Naturals essential oils offers a decent price for a decent selection and decent quality. Middle of the road. This may be a reasonable brand for somebody hoping to find a lower priced line.
