Maybe you’ve landed here because you want to know what the deal is with Walmart’s essential oils. Could Walmart carry good quality essential oils for an even better price?

In this article, we’re going to review and rate Walmart’s essential oils on a scale of A+-F based on price, quality, and selection. To learn more about our rating scale go here. Because Walmart doesn’t have their own line of essential oils, we’re going to review and rate a couple of the companies that they carry, a well as compare their prices, and what they can do for you.

Before we get into it though, it’s important that you have a clear goal in mind. Why do you want to use essential oils? Are you looking to make your house smell amazing or do you want some serious therapeutic benefits? This is so important because if you are just looking to make some DIY cleaning recipes then opting for a non-so-pure, cheaper brand will do wonders for your wallet. BUT if you want to really get the therapeutic benefits than you need a high-quality brand you can trust.  So does Walmart carry that brand? This is what we’re going to talk about today. So now that you have your goal clear, let’s dive in.

The Basics: Who is Walmart

Walmart is America’s superstore. It has everything most people could ever need, all in one place, for an affordable price. So it’s no wonder that with the resurgence of natural remedies that Walmart began to carry essential oils.

The oils that Walmart carries are going to be different than the essential oils an actual essential oil company will offer. This is because no one thinks essential oils when they think Walmart, but if you’re browsing at the superstore, why not?! And again, it is all going to come down to your goal when figuring out if purchasing essential oils from Walmart is the best for you.

Price

Because Walmart carries multiple brands we’re going to compare their price with the price brand’s price from their site. Below you’ll see brands that we have already reviewed so that it will be easier to choose based on their overall review.

Price Review

Prices are very similar when buying from the company itself or purchasing from Walmart. What it comes down to is convenience, if you need it fast Walmart is a good option because they offer free 2-day shipping and free in-store pick up. If you’re looking for affordable oils mainly for aromatherapy use, Walmart may be a good option.

Selection

Walmart lacks a good selection. For starters, they only offer the most popular oils like lavender, peppermint, frankincense, and orange. This makes sense because Walmart’s passion is not essential oils so they just want to offer the most popular to their customer base.

Their site does offer filters so you can narrow down and find what you’re looking for. These filters include prices, customer ratings, brands, and primary ingredients. They also have a health concerns filter but personally, I wouldn’t use this just by looking at their selection and brands. For therapeutic uses, you are going to want a large, high quality selection.

Quality

If you decided that the main reason you want to use essential oils is to make your home smell inviting or do whip up some DIY cleaning recipes, then purchasing from Walmart is not the worst idea.

By looking at the brands that Walmart offers that we already reviewed, Aura Cacia or Plant Therapy would be your best bets if your looking for a little higher quality essential oils. While they still fell as a B on our rating scale, they are still your best options compared to NOW essential oils D rating and Nature’s Truth’s C. If you want therapeutic benefits, you may be disappointed with the results.

Walmart Essential Oils Rating

I’m rating Walmart’s essential oils a C. Overall, Walmart has oils that are best for aromatherapy. If you are looking for therapeutic benefits, Walmart lacks selection and quality. They offer no additional resources for someone who may be looking to make essential oils a lifestyle and no customer service expertise.

Bottom line: if you want to make essential oils a lifestyle, Walmart is not the place to do it. An essential oil brand that offers fabulous customer service, backed research, educational resources, and quality transparency is more the style.

Walmart is going to be your essential oil depot if you want a couple of the most popular to help your house smell inviting, your laundry smell fresh, and your house sparkle.

    1. Walmart offers a couple brands we already reviewed including Aura Cacia, Plant Therapy, NOW, and Nature’s Truth. We always recommend if you are using essential oils for topical or therapeutic reasons, then to always go for a high quality brand! Aura Cacia and Plant Therapy fell as a B on a rating scale—much better than NOW’s D and Nature Truth’s C—but if you are looking for therapeutic benefits, you may be disappointed with the results with these brands. If you are purchasing oils at Walmart, please consider Aura Cacia or Plant Therapy first.
You should always dilute essential oils with a carrier oil before topical application. And please patch test before use! Hope this helps (: Thank you so much for reaching out! Let me know if you have any other questions.
