DoTerra Deep Blue essential oil is a soothing blend of oils perfect for a massage after a hard workout or a long day. This oil is formulated with oils well-known for their ability to alleviate pain, reduce soreness, and soothe inflammation, including wintergreen, peppermint, camphor, ylang-ylang, helichrysum, blue tansy, blue chamomile, and osmanthus.
This minty and cooling oil can be used topically and aromatically, although the primary use is topical. It has a potent and healing effect on the nervous system and muscles, and bones. Its aroma is minty, herbaceous, and camphoraceous.
Deep Blue’s common primary uses include topical application for arthritis, back pain, bone pain, bruises, bursitis, fibromyalgia, inflammation, joint pain, muscle aches/pain, muscle tension, tension headaches, and whiplash.
DoTerra Deep Blue Essential Oil Benefits & Uses
Sore Muscles
Deep Blue’s anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and muscle relaxant properties make it a suitable oil to relieve sore muscles. Dr. Jones and I always keep Deep Blue in our gym bags to use post-workout.
For sore muscles, add 15 drops to 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and massage oil all over sore muscles. If the area of soreness is not extensive, mix 2-3 drops of essential oil with a teaspoon of fractionated coconut oil and massage onto area of pain.
Arthritis
Oils found in Deep Blue like camphor and blue tansy make this blend incredible at relieving pain due to arthritis.
To use Deep Blue for arthritis, blend 10 drops of oil with 1 tablespoon of fractionated coconut oil and massage gently onto affected joints daily.
Inflammation
Deep Blue is overflowing with anti-inflammatory properties, making it ideal for chronic, inflammatory pain.
To help use Deep Blue for inflammation, add 8-10 drops of oil to a 5 ml roll-on bottle (dark-colored) and then fill the rest with fractionated coconut oil. Roll onto areas of discomfort.
Back Pain
The oils in this blend make a killer all-natural alternative to icy-hot—seriously, camphor oil is one of the main ingredients found in icy-hot products (or similar products)!
To use this oil for back pain, blend 5 drops with a teaspoon of fractionated coconut oil gently massage (or get your partner to massage) all over your back, or just the specific area of pain.
Tension Headaches
Tension headaches will really put a damper on your whole day—lack of concentration leads to lack of productivity, which leads to feelings of failure and guilt. Kick those to the curb whenever a tension headache comes on with this blend, which features one of the best essential oils for headaches, peppermint.
Mix 1-2 drops of oil with ½ teaspoon of fractionated coconut oil and apply to temples, back of neck, wrists, and/or bottoms of the feet.
Deep Blue is one of my favorite oil blends to have on hand for ultimate soothing and relaxation. The combination is A1, and you seriously can’t beat it. If you’re ready to try oils, but you’re not sure how to get started, go here and let me know how I can help!
Deep Blue is one of my favorites! Has anyone else tried it as part of your bedtime routine? When I need to relax at the end of a crazy day, I find Deep Blue inhaled or rubbed on the base of my neck and shoulders, or sometimes only on my temples results in the stresses of the day totally melting away. Awesome relaxation!
So great, Roxanne! You’re such an oil rock star. I have tried this with my bedtime routine many times. I’m such a bath girl and I find that when I add this to the bath along with some Epsom Salt, my body feels completely different (totally relaxed and ready for bed). Thanks for your comment!
