You’ve landed on the Barefut essential oils brand review article because you’re on the hunt for essential oils. Did I get that right? Trying to find the best essential oil brand for you can be an overwhelming task. With the resurgence of natural remedies for common ailments, essential oils are at the forefront. And that means big companies popping up and long blog posts claiming that they know the best essential oil brand. But because the essential oils industry isn’t regulated, the phrase “best essential oil brand” is very subjective.
So it’s a good thing you landed here because this is an objective review of Barefut essential oils. In this article, I am going to review and rate Barefut essential oils on a scale of A+-F based on price, selection, and quality. To learn more about our rating scale, go here.
But before we get started, you need to have a clear goal in mind. Are you interested in creating a lifestyle with essential oils? Meaning do you want to reap all the powerful therapeutic benefits. Or are you only interested in making your home and laundry smell like lavender fields? If all you want to do is create some non-toxic cleaning options than opting for a cheaper, not-so-pure brand is not the worst idea for your wallet. Now that you have your goal in mind, let’s get started.
The Basics: Who is Barefut?
Barefut originally started as a small company that would source their Utah community’s health food stores, alternative practitioners, spas, and individuals. Over the past few years, they have expanded throughout the country and greatly relied on word of mouth. They specialize in their oils, and don’t offer other types of items. Here’s what I’ve discovered:
Price
The Barefut oils are in the moderate or average price range. You pay a bit more than the really cheap oils, but you’re still left with more affordable options than some of the top premium lines. This could be a good middle ground for someone hoping for a little more quality at a reasonable price.
LAVENDER $14.95 for 15 mL
FRANKINCENSE $22.95 for 15 mL
PEPPERMINT $10.95 for 15 mL
Selection
Barefut has a really nice selection of essential oils. You will find both the basic and many specialty singles in abundance. They also offer more blends than many other top essential oil companies do. For example, instead of just one relaxing blend, they have many different options (Anxiety, Calming, Clear Mind, Ease, Peace of Mind, Prosperous, Stress Relief, and more). This helps you find the one that resonates with you. Barefut also has fun blends like Winter Wonderland and Spiced Chai. While they don’t have a separate children’s line, they do mark when the oils are safe for kids 2 and older.
There’s one more unique o ering through Barefut. They sell “balms” of some of their oils — which is like a solid-at-room-temperature version of a rollerball. Think of a lip balm that is designed to be rubbed wherever you need it — your wrists, chest, feet, etc.
Quality
When you visit a single oil page — say, bergamot, for example — you will find its botanical name, location of origin, extraction process, and part of the plant used. Then you can also upload the results of the GS/ MS testing, which I always love to see. I would still like to find more information about other types of testing. I think they could go a tad bit further in discussing quality — maybe an actual quality page would up my confidence.
Barefut Essential Oils Rating
I’m rating Barefut Essential Oils a C – average. This company falls in the middle of the pack. Not the best and not the worst. Often times, there are substantial opportunities to improve in one or more areas. These oils are typically best used for their aroma or what I call “smell good” oils. Use for therapeutic benefits likely won’t get results that you’re happy with.
Bottom line: Middle of the road pricing and middle of the road quality transparency — but definitely higher than average selection, especially when it comes to blends. There’s nothing really special here since there are other brands in the same price range that offer more quality informa on and testng.
