Turn back time with these delicious face masks. They contain some of your favorite superfoods, but don’t be fooled- you don’t need to eat them to reap the benefits. Smash em, whisk em and slather them all over your face for a youthful glow. Here are our top 5 DIY anti-aging face masks.
Honey, I Need Yogurt
Greek yogurt exfoliates and gets rid of dead skin cells, revealing radiant, youthful skin. Honey locks in moisture, plumping and hydrating skin. And as for lavender essential oil, well that will work hard to smooth and even out skin tone for a glowing look.
- 1 tablespoon full-fat greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 2-3 drops lavender essential oil
Instructions: mix all ingredients until you get a smooth paste. Apply to face and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Gently wash off with warm water and apply your moisturizer. Can do 1-2 times a week.
Renew with Clay
Remove impurities with detoxing clay and bind minerals, nutrients, and moisturizer to skin with honey and olive oil. As discussed above, yogurt is a perfect exfoliator, so when you wipe off this fresh facemask, you will be revealing brighter and younger-looking skin.
- 1 teaspoon of bentonite clay
- 1 teaspoon of oat flour
- 1 teaspoon of greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 1 teaspoon of olive oil
- Water to achieve consistency
- 1 drop of frankincense, rose, or lavender essential oil
Instructions: mix clay, oat flour, yogurt, honey, and olive oil together and add water until desired consistency. Add a drop of essential oil and mix at the end. Apply to your face and leave on for 10 minutes until dry. Rinse and wash off with warm water.
But first Coffee Face Mask
Brighten up your dull and tired skin with this powerful antioxidant coffee mask. Caffeine from the coffee works to boost circulation – which is perfect for those with dark circles. A bit of caffeine from this mask will awaken a dull complexion and revitalize tired-looking skin. Vitamin C from the lemon juice will offer incredible brightening benefits while also balancing oil production.
Bonus: this mask is also a fabulous exfoliant!
- ½ cup ground organic coffee beans
- ½ cup organic, unsweetened cacao powder
- 1 cup of unsweetened almond, coconut, or oat milk
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil, almond oil, or jojoba oil
Instructions: mix coffee and cacao powder to combine. Add in milk and stir to combine (for a thicker consistency use less milk). Fold in honey, lemon juice, and oil of choice. Apply to skin and let sit for up to 20 minutes. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days!
Coconut Honey Mask
This coconut honey mask is one of our favorite masks of all time here at Elevays! Raw honey is home to a plethora of phytonutrients and antioxidants that help slow down the aging process while plumping up your skin.
Honey (a natural humectant) locks in moisture for ultra-hydrating results. The ingredients are simple, but the results are astonishing.
- 1 tsp unrefined extra virgin coconut oil
- 1 tsp raw honey (local is best!)
- 2 drops lavender essential oil (optional but recommended!)
Instructions: form a paste by mixing all ingredients. With your fingers, gently massage the mask into your skin. Let sit for up to 20 minutes. Wash with warm water and apply your favorite moisturizer after.
Not Your Breakfast Face Mask
This yummy face mask includes all my favorite breakfast ingredients: avocado, egg, coconut, and honey! Not too fast…I don’t eat them all together! That would be a super confusing sweet and savory mess. But I do combine them into a paste for an anti-aging face mask.
We know avocados are packed with essential fatty acids and vitamin E, which are both heaven for our skin. Add avocado, egg, coconut, and honey together and you’ve got yourself a recipe for ultimate glow!
These superfoods will smooth, soften, and hydrate skin. And those right there are the three keys to youthful skin.
- ½ flesh of 1 avocado
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of canned coconut milk
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
Instructions: whisk egg and then add mashed avocado, honey, coconut milk, and coconut oil and mix well. Apply to face and neck and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Gently rinse with cleanser and follow with your favorite moisturizer.
