Brand Review: Rainbow Abbey

If you’re on the hunt for essential oils, and are interested in learning more about Rainbow Abbey essential oils, you’ve come to the right place. Searching for the best essential oil brand for you can be a daunting task. The internet is drowning in big companies and blog posts claiming to be or know the best essential oils brand. But the truth is, the essential oils industry is unregulated, which means that the phrase “best essential oils brand” means nothing. 

Today, I am going to give an objective review of Rainbow Abbey essential oils. I’m going to rate the brand on a scale of A+-F based on price, selection, and quality. To learn more about our rating scale, go here. 

Before we get started, we need to get one thing straight: what is your goal with essential oils? Do you want to make them a lifestyle and use them for everything under the sun: colds, warts, stretch marks, wrinkles, digestion, adrenal fatigue, anxious feelings, confidence, etc. OR—do you want to use oils for their pleasant aroma? Having a clear goal in mind is crucial when deciding which brand is right for you. 

If you’re not interested in oils as a lifestyle, then opting for a cheap, not-so-pure brand might be a good option for you. But if you want to use oils for anything and everything (hello, me), you need a high-quality brand that you can trust.

The Basics: Who is Rainbow Abbey?

At first google search, Rainbow Abbey seems like a cheap brand that you find on Amazon and eBay. They don’t have their own site, which means they don’t have an in-depth about section where we can find out exactly who and what they are. Their main store-front seems to be on Amazon, where their slogan is “be healthy, be pure, and be beautiful.” This not only tells me nothing, but it also makes me question who is behind this business and if essential oils are even a passion for them.

Price 

Rainbow Abbey seems to sell most of their oils in kits or bundles. For example, they have an 8-pack that goes for $25 and a 16-pack selling for $36.50. I know, this probably sounds incredible and too good to be true. I mean, I can’t even find good frankincense for less than $35, so how is it that they’re selling 16 oils for less than $40?! 

Lavender: $12.75 for 15mL*

Peppermint: $7.50 for 15mL*

Frankincense: $7.60 for 15mL*

*These prices are not just low, but they’re also confusing. For starters, they don’t sell 15 mL, but I converted it for the sake of comparison to other brands. They sell 10 mL bottles, but a lot of the time, not separately. For example, they have an option to buy one bottle of lavender, but you have to buy two bottles of peppermint and frankincense. This means that you are getting two bottles of peppermint or frankincense for insanely cheap. Immediately, I don’t trust these prices. 

Selection

While it may seem like Rainbow Abbey has a decent selection at first glance, but looking a little deeper, I realized they actually don’t. Yes, they have quite a few oil options, but for essential oils that I’ve never heard of: strawberry, cherry, apple, mango, watermelon, coffee, vanilla, and passion fruit—just to name a few. These aren’t really essential oils. Rainbow Abbey is not for you if you’re looking for an actual selection of real essential oils. 

Quality 

There is nothing on their amazon page that talks about quality, sourcing, testing, process, etc. For me, I don’t want to purchase oils from somewhere that doesn’t go into their quality standards. The fact that they also call their oils “pure, natural, and therapeutic grade” tells me that they’re being untruthful. If they were being truthful, I would think they would want to share more information and proof about that. 

Rainbow Abbey Essential Oils Rating 

I’m not even sure that you can call Rainbow Abbey an essential oils brand. I’m giving them an F, which means I wouldn’t even give them to my worst enemy. Their oils are way too cheap to be trusted, their selection is atrocious, and their quality is not there. I do not recommend these oils for someone who is even trying to make their home smell nice. There are better cheap options out there.
