Broiled Salmon with Garlic Herb Butter

  • Author: Erica Jones, MHS
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Herb Butter Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons of softened butter OR ghee
  • 2 tbsp. fresh thyme
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • Sea salt
  • Pepper

Main Ingredients

  • 4 Salmon Steaks (about 6 to 7 ounces, each)
  • Sea salt
  • Pepper
  • Sesame Oil
  • Gluten-Free Breadcrumbs
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your broiler to high. While it’s heating up, make the Herb Butter.
  2. Add the butter or ghee, thyme, garlic, sea salt and pepper to a food processor or mini chopper and blend it all up until the ingredients are well combined.
  3. Place a cast iron skillet into the oven to let it heat up while you prepare the salmon. You want to leave the skillet in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Arrange the salmon steaks on a workspace with the skin side up. Brush the skin lightly with sesame oil and sprinkle with sea salt and pepper.
  5. Flip the salmon steaks over and sprinkle salt and pepper on the flesh side. Take a heaping tablespoon of the herb butter and smear it into the salmon steak. Repeat amongst the rest of the fish.
  6. Sprinkle the fish lightly with breadcrumbs (about a tablespoon per piece). Remove the skillet from the oven and place each piece on pan, skin side down. Broil the salmon for 3 minutes and then remove the pan from the oven.
  7. Using a spatula, remove the fish from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Squeeze lemon juice over the fish if desired and enjoy!
